Admissions to Diploma in Elementary Education: Apply by September 18
Applications have been invited for admission to the two year (4 semesters) Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course in Govt/Aided and Private Self-financing Teacher Training Institutions in Kerala for 2020-21. There are a total of 101 training institutions under the Government /Aided category and 120 under the Self-financing category.
This is the eligibility training course for appointment as teachers in Lower Primary/Upper Primary schools, earlier known as Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) course and Diploma in Education (D.Ed).
Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the Pre- Degree Examination conducted by any of the Universities in Kerala or the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examinations, Kerala securing a minimum of 50% marks. Those belonging to Other Backward Classes need only 45% while applicant belonging to the SC/ST categories, need only a pass in the qualifying examination.
Those who have taken more than three chances to pass the qualifying examination are not eligible for admission. This condition is not applicable to SC/ST applicants.
Applicant should not be below 17 years of age nor should not be over 33 years as on 1 July 2020. Other Eligible Category applicants will have a relaxation of 3 years and those of SC/ST, a relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit.
Of the total seats, 40%, 40%, 20% respectively will be allotted for Science, Humanities and Commerce streams.
Separate Notifications have been issued for Government/Aided Institutions and Self-financing Institutions.
Applications have to be submitted in the prescribed format available along with the Notifications at www.education.kerala.gov.in
An Applicant can apply to only one Revenue District. The institution to which the applicant desires to be considered in the Revenue district has to be specified in the application in the order of preference. The list of institutions is available in the Notification.
For applying to Govt/Aided category, applicant has to affix a court fee stamp for Rs.5/- in the filled application towards application fee. It can also be paid in any treasury in which case, the chalan receipt has to be submitted with the application.
For Self-financing category, application fee is Rs.100/- to be paid by way of a DD in favour of the Deputy Director of Education of the Revenue district to which application is being submitted.
In both categories, SC/ST applicants are exempted from payment of application fee.
The filled application has to be submitted to the Deputy Director of Education of the Revenue District where the applicant is applying for admission latest by 18 September 2020.
For being considered for Management seats separate application has to be submitted to the Management of the Institute. Details are available in the Notification. Last date is 18 September 2020.
