Admissions at National Institute of Fashion Technology: Apply by December 31
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), has invited applications for admission to various Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes offered at the centres of NIFT campuses at Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Raebareli, Shillong and Srinagar, for 2020.
Bachelor Programmes offered are (i) Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and (ii) Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech)
Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programmes is offered in the following specializations: Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication.
Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech) is offered in Apparel Production.
Master’s Programmes include Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech).

Eligibility: Bachelor Programmes: Applicant should not be over 23 years as on 1st October, 2019. The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories
For admission to B.Des Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication, applicant should have passed a recognised Plus 2 level examination of any State/Central Board or the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects or 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education or General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB) or any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system
For admission to Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) (B.FTech.), applicant should have passed the +2 level examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or 3 or 4-years diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB) or any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Master Programme: For Master Programmes, there is no age limit. Eligibility is as follows.
Master of Design (M.Des): Undergraduate Degree in any discipline or an Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT/NID. The course would not provide any basic knowledge and skill development in design as a part of its Master programme.
Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M): Undergraduate Degree in any discipline or Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT/NID
Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech): B.F.Tech from NIFT or B.E / B.Tech.
Those appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply subject to the production of proof of having acquired the minimum prescribed qualifications at the time of counselling/ admission or latest by 30th September, 2020.
Selection: Selection to all UG/PG Programmes will be based on Written Entrance Examination to be held on 19.1.2020, at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur (Kerala), Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Surat, Udaipur, Vadodara, Vishakhapatnam, Shillong, Srinagar(J&K).
Depending on the Programme, the test may have General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT) or GAT alone. The structure of GAT and CAT and the weightage assigned to each test in the final merit list of the entrance examination etc are given at https://applyadmission.net/nift2020/
In second stage, there will be a Situation Test (which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials) for B.Des. For Masters Programmes, the second stage will consist of Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI).
Application: Applications can be submitted online at www.nift.ac.in or at https://applyadmission.net/nift2020/Default.aspx, latest by 23.59 hours on 31st December, 2019, without late fee. Prospectus 2020 & Guidelines for applying online are also available at this site. Application submission has to be completed in 4 steps, Filling the Application; Uploading image (Photograph and Signature); Making Payment; Printing Application.
Application Fee: Application Fee for General/OBC (NCL) applicants is Rs.2000/- and that for SC/ ST/ PWD Category is Rs.1000/-. The fee can be paid using Credit/Debit Card or by Demand Draft.
In case of payment through Demand Draft, DD should be drawn in favour of ‘NIFT HO’, payable at New Delhi. Details of the Demand Draft are to be filled in the online application form.
Those applying through Demand Draft are required to send the printout of the Application Form, duly completed in all respects, along with Demand Draft, to reach ‘Project Manager-CMS, All India Management Association, 15 Link Road, Lajpath Nagar III, Delhi-110024’, latest by 4th January, 2020. Candidates are advised to keep a print out/photocopy of Application Form for further reference along with proof of payment.
Applications can also be submitted after 31st December 2019, till 4th January, 2020, with late fee of Rs.5000/- (in addition to the applicable application fee) to be paid through Credit/Debit Card only.
Facility will be provided to edit / update the Application Form, from 12.00 hrs on 1st January, 2020, till 16:00 hrs on 4th January, 2020.
Admit card can be downloaded from website, from 2 pm on 10th January, 2020.
For Bachelor of Design and Master of Design, CAT will be held from 10 am to 1 pm and GAT from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm on 19.1.2020. For Bachelor of Fashion Technology, Master of Fashion Technology and Master of Fashion Management, GAT will be from 10 am to 1 pm on 19 January 2020. Result of Written Entrance Examination will be announced in February/March, 2020.
Based on the result of GAT and CAT, shortlisted B.Des candidates will be called for Situation Test. For B.F.Tech, GAT will be the final test for selection.
Based on the result of GAT and CAT, in the case of M.Des and GAT in the case of M.F.Tech and MFM, candidates will be called for Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI).
Situation Test / Group Discussion / Interview will be held during April-May, 2020.
Final Result will be declared by end of May / June, 2020. Counselling will be from the end of May /June 2020.
