Admission to Paramedical Diploma Courses: Apply by October 11
Applications have been invited by the Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Kerala, for Admission to Professional Diploma Courses in Pharmacy, Health Inspector and Paramedical Courses, in Kerala in Government and Self financing institutions, for 2019.
Diploma courses are offered in the following areas: Pharmacy (ii) Health Inspector (iii) Medical Laboratory Technology (iv) Radiological Technology (v) Ophthalmic Assistance (vi) Dental Mechanics (vii) Dental Hygienist (viii) Operation Theatre & Anesthesia Technology (ix) Cardio Vascular Technology (x) Neuro Technology (xi) Dialysis Technology (xii) Endoscopic Technology (xiii) Dental Operating Room Assistance (xiv) Respiratory Technology (xv) Central Sterile Supply Department Technology.
All courses are of 2 years duration generally, except Diploma in Pharmacy which extends to 2 years and 3 months including practical and Radiological Technology which is of 3 years duration.
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Holders of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cards/ OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) will also be treated at par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admissions. However, PlO/OCI applicants will not be eligible for any kind of reservation.
Applicants will be categorized as Keralite and Non- Keralite. A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a 'Keralite'. Children of Non-Keralite All India Service (AIS) officers allotted to Kerala cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’. But they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with disabilities reservation.
A candidate who is not of 'Kerala origin' but who has undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who is the son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents who are (i) Employees of the Government of India and defence personnel posted to Kerala and (ii) Employees, who are serving the Government of Kerala, subject to the condition that employees have served in the state of Kerala or for the state of Kerala, for a minimum period of two years, will be categorized as Non-Keratite. Non-Keralite candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats only and will not be eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation.
For claiming Keralite status, applicant should submit one of the following documents (i) True copy of relevant page of Secondary School Leaving Certificate/ relevant page of the Passport/Birth Certificate of the applicant, showing the place of birth in Kerala (ii) True copy of relevant page of Secondary School Leaving Certificate/ relevant page of the Passport/Birth Certificate of either father/mother of the applicant showing his/her place of birth in Kerala with corroborative evidence to establish the relationship between the father/mother whose certificate is produced and the applicant (iii) Certificate from the Village Officer/Tahsildar to show that the applicant or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala (in the prescribed Proforma given in the Prospectus) (iv) A Certificate of residence in the Proforma given in the Prospectus from the Village Officer/Tahsildar to the effect that the applicant has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of five years within a period of twelve years (v) A Certificate showing School Studies in Kerala from Std. VIII to XII obtained from the Head(s) of the educational institution(s) in Kerala (in the prescribed Proforma given in the Prospectus)
In case of children of All India Service officers, a Certificate from Government/Competent Authority showing that the parent of the candidate is an All India Service Officer allotted to Kerala Cadre has to be submitted.
For claiming Non-Keralite status, a Certificate to be issued by the Employer is to be obtained in the prescribed format from the Head of the organisation, where the candidate's parent (employee) is serving and the ‘Certificate showing School studies in Kerala for Standards XI & XII’ is to be obtained from the Head of institution where the candidate underwent his/her qualifying course in Kerala. Proforma of this Certificate is given in the website.
D Pharm (UP): Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics as Optional subjects or equivalent.
Diploma in Health Inspector: Applicant should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates. In the absence of such candidates, those who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 40% marks in the three core subjects together for the qualifying examination are eligible. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates.
Paramedical Courses other than D Pharm and DHI: Applicant should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Keala, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates.
Those who have passed VHSE with 40% marks put together for Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates.
Age: Except for service candidates, all other applicants shall have completed 17 years of age on 31.12.2019 and upper age limit is 35 as on 31.12.2019. No relaxation in the age limit shall be made on any account, except for Management quota seats of D Pharm course where maximum age limit is exempted.
Application: Applications are to be submitted latest by 11th October, 2019, through https://lbscentre.in/paramediplma2019/. Prospectus can also be downloaded from this link. Applications can also be submitted through the ‘Various Allotments’ link at ‘Online-Services’ at http://lbscentre.kerala.gov.in/
Application fee is Rs.400/- for General category and Rs.200/- for SC/ST categories. After applicant registers at the website, application fee has to be remitted online through the admission website or should be paid in any branch of Federal Bank using the challan that can be downloaded from the website. In case of Service applicants, the application fee has to be paid in the Treasury in the specified Head of Account ‘0210-03-105-99’, given in the Notification. Those service applicants who wish to apply in the open quota also should remit the fee as in the case of non-service applicants in addition to the fee remitted for service applicants.
After the remittance of fee, applicants have to fill the academic and other details, upload photo, signature and other documents and finally, confirm. A printout of the confirmation page has to be taken and kept by the applicant for future reference. Print out need not be send to LBS Centre for Science and Technology.
Service candidates after remitting the application fee and getting the registration number from any of the Facilitation Centres of LBS should fill the online application. After completing online application submission, the print out of application form along with the challan receipt and attested copies of certificates/documents should be send to the ‘The Director, Directorate of Medical Education, Medical college P.O. Thiruvananthapuram-695011’ through proper channel to reach the Office of DME on or before the last date prescribed.
