No permanent appointments of Malayalam teachers in technical schools for 23 years
Kochi: According to a response provided to an RTI query, it has been 23 years since a permanent appointment was made to Malayalam teacher post at 38 technical schools in the state.
In 2015, a part-time teacher appointment was done in Kannur. Other than that teachers-on contract are teaching Malayalam at technical schools. In the 2015 exam, no appointment was made even after publishing the rank list. Later a teacher was appointed after legal measures.
Those candidates included in the 2018-exam PSC rank list, are still awaiting appointment. In 2019, the rank list for all districts were published. There are 54 persons in total including main and supplementary lists.
When the candidates enquired on the number of posts, it was known that no appointment was made since 23 years.
When the technical education director was contacted, no satisfactory reply was obtained. The vacancies reported at schools are not notified to general education directorate. The appointments to technical schools for general subjects Malayalam, English and Science are made by general education department.
In the 39 technical schools in the state, Malayalam is mandatory in Classes 8 to 10.
Even though school authorities have demanded the technical education director for permanent appointment of teachers, no reply was obtained.
