From nurse to doctor through NEET - the inspiring journey of Ahmad Kabeer
Malappuram: Though he was fully satisfied in his job as a nurse, his dream of becoming a doctor haunted him. Ahmad Kabeer, finally got his chance to fulfil his dream.
Malappuram Pookkipparamba native Dr Ahmad Kabeer has been appointed as assistant surgeon at the CHC in Kumabala of Kasaragod.
Though he attempted entrance exam for medical admission after Plus Two, he couldn’t get through. In 2010, he was appointed in health department after completing nursing. In 2013, he attempted NEET exam and secured seat for medical admission in Kozhikode Medical College through nurses’ quota.
The journey was never easy, says Ahmad, son of late Abu Haji and Ayisha.
“I took leave from my job at the age of 30 and decided to study. The income decreased. The family depended on the income of my wife K Shabeeba who was a staff nurse at the Kondotty CHC. We have three children Minha, Hanfa and Dawood Mahdi,” says Ahmad.
After completing MBBS, he rejoined service ending leave. He obtained the appointment as assistant surgeon wile working as staff nurse at general hospital in Thalassery.
He joined as doctor on December 1.
