Kottakkal: Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct examinations for the post of assistant professors to government and aided colleges in November. The exams are being conducted after 8 long years.

Examinations for the post of lower and upper primary teachers will also be held in November. The examinations, postponed during March, April and May will be held in September. Due to coronavirus, the examinations will be held under strict safety regulations.

PSC had issued notification for the post of assistant professor in November 2019. Examinations which were likely to be held in 2021 are being conducted before the present government’s tenure concludes.

The number of vacancies for assistant professor will be reduced to one third as the government cancelled PG weightage for the post. The government had issued an order that new appointments to PG classes were required if teachers had to work 16 hours per week. This resulted in over 2,500 vacancies being cancelled.

After these examinations, the PSC will conduct LGS and LDC examinations which have a higher number of applicants.

Maximum tests will be held

Once the schools are open, examinations can be held only on holidays. Due to COVID-19, there would be delays in publishing the rank lists. But the maximum number of appointments will be made. More preparations are required for LDC and LGS examinations, which will have a large number of applicants, said M. K. Sakeer, Chairman, PSC.
