Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (South India Centre of Wildlife Institute of India), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India; Moongilpallam, Anaikatty (PO), Coimbatore Tamil Nadu-641108, has notified Vacancy for Research Personnel under different Projects at the institute, on purely temporary basis.

There are 4 positions of Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and one position of Junior Project Fellow (JPF) under different Projects. The details of the Project and the description of work are given in the Notification at

Essential Qualifications for JRF/JPF: Post graduate degree with minimum 55% marks in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/ Conservation Biology/ Biodiversity and Conservation/ Animal Sciences/ Conservation and Animal Science related subjects/ Life Sciences/Biodiversity related subjects depending on the Project.

Desirable qualification for each position is given in the detailed Notification.

Upper Age limit as on 20th September 2023 is 28. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Challenged categories as per applicable Central Government norms.

Fellowship for 3 JRF positions: Rs. 31,000 + HRA for NET/GATE candidates and Rs. 25,000 + HRA for Non NET/GATE candidates (as per DST-SERB rules).

Fellowship for 1 JRF position) and JPF: Rs. 25,000/per month plus HRA

Application: Applications can be submitted online at latest by 20th September 2023. Self-attested scanned PDF copies of all supporting documents and testimonials such as copies of certificates, mark lists and testimonials of essential and desirable qualifications, research experience, date of birth, community, extracurricular activities etc. should be uploaded with the online application. One can apply for a maximum of two advertised positions only. Those applying for two positions should submit separate sets of applications and attachments.

Only the shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview. The final selection will be through an Interview to be conducted for the shortlisted candidates. Exact date, time and mode of interviews will be intimated to the shortlisted candidates by email.

If selected, all original documents in support of qualifications, age, experience etc. should be produced by the candidate for verification before joining SACON. The hard copies of the filled-in application form along with self-attested true copies of all supporting documents should also be submitted at the time of joining. Selected candidates will be expected to join immediately as the projects have very tight timelines.

Selected candidates will be provided with hostel accommodation at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel will be admissible as per the rules.
