When his friends were busy with placement interviews, Kasyap V Karun kept himself calm. He had no confusion as he decided to pursue his passion long back. He sharpened his skills to crack the 'chakravyuh' of entrance examination so that he could carry out research in Electronics and Communication. His effort, hard work and patience yielded result when the declaration of GATE results on Sunday night. Kasyap bagged third rank in the exam in ECE branch which is considered to be one among the toughest exams in the country.

It is my friends who are celebrating the success more than me, quipped Kasyap who had bagged sixth rank in Kerala Engineering Entrance in 2013. At present, he is doing his final year studies at NIT Calicut. Though he is very much focused in his studies, he never misses the celebrations in the campus. No wonder why his friends celebrate his rank more than him.

When asked about preparations for the exam, Kasyap said, "I started my intensive preparation three months before the examination. After revising the theory portions thoroughly, I started to learn with materials available for GATE preparation. Then I kept on appearing for mock tests to practice time management."

Mock test will help to get familiarise with the software used for the online test adds Kasyap, who appeared for mock test for more than a hundred times. "I took mock tests for 115 times. Keep my word, these tests are really a confidence builder," said Kasyap.

Disclosing the strategy of examination, Kasyap said, "I always keep last one hour to revisit the answers and will make necessary corrections. For online tests, we have this freedom to change the answers."

Completing the B.Tech degree, Kasyap wants to do research in Analog Electronic Design. "I want to take up research either in IISc Bangalore or IIT Madras," he concludes.
