Moncompu: An Alappuzha native engineering student was honoured by Facebook for finding a serious error of WhatsApp application. K S Ananthakrishna (19), a B.Tech student at Pathanamthitta Mount Zion College of Engineering College was honoured by Facebook for rectifying a bug that allowed other persons to completely remove files on WhatsApp without the knowledge of the user.
Ananthakrishnan had found the bug two months back and informed Facebook officials with required corrections.
After two months of observation, Facebook officials contacted Ananthakrishnan and presented him with cash award of $500 and a spot in their prestigious Hall of Fame. Ananthakrishnan’s name is mentioned at the 80th spot in Facebook’s Thanks List this year.
Usually, Facebook awards cash prize and Hall of Fame entry to those who finds serious lapses on Facebook and their related applications.
Ananthakrishnan has been researching on ethical hacking utilizing the possibilities of Internet. He also works in close relation with Kerala Police Cyberdome.
Ananthakrishnan is the son of Krishnakumar of Alappuzha Moncompu Krishnavihar and Mathrubhumi agent Sreeja.
