Beware of fraudulent calls before pursuing for medical admissions

Dr TP Sethumadhavan

As a sequel to NEET, lot of fraudulent people started calling parents and students claiming assured admission for MBBS and other professional courses. Rajesh, one of the parents from Thrissur, suggested that after NEET exam, daily he is getting 5-6 calls, WhatsApp messages and text messages regarding admission. Parents and students must take utmost care in this regard. It is a fact that admission to MBBS in the States and All India quota including Government, Private and Deemed to be Universities/Colleges are based on NEET ranks. Nobody can manipulate the rank for giving admission to ineligible candidates as suggested by agents. National level NEET counselling is through under the guidance of Directorate General of Health Services. State level counselling will be done through Commissioner for Entrance Examinations in respective states. In Kerala, Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will prepare rank list based on NEET marks. In Karnataka it would be through Karnataka Examinations authority and in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu through Centac and TANCET respectively. Never rely on seat offering agencies. They might have collected the data of entire NEET applied students from National testing agency sources.

Immediately after announcing the NEET ranks, National Testing agency will announce the notifications for admission. Through medical counselling committee website, students can apply for 15 percent All India quota seats, seats in Deemed or Private Medical Colleges, ESI medical Colleges and seats at Armed forces Medical Colleges for MBBS or BDS admission as the case may be. Meanwhile students can upload their NEET marks and rank in the website of Commissioner for entrance examinations, Kerala for entering in the KEAM medical rank list. Admission to allied health courses like BAMS, BHMS BUMS and BSMS will be from KEAM rank list.
