Short Service Commission in Indian Navy Executive/ Education/ Technical Branches

The Indian Navy has invited applications for Short Service Commission Officers for various Entries-January 2023 (ST 23) course.

Selected candidates will undergo training for (a) Extended Naval Orientation Course-General Service (Executive) GS(X)/ Hydrography and (b) Naval Orientation Course (NOC) Regular-Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre/Air Traffic Controller/Observer/Pilot/ Logistics /Education/Technical (Engineering & Electrical).

Branch/ Cadre: Executive Branch (i) General Service [GS(X)] /Hydro Cadre (Men) (ii) Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre (NAIC) (Men & Women) (iii) Air Traffic Controller (ATC) (Men & Women) (iv) Observer (Men) (v) Pilot (Men) (vi) Logistics (Men); Education Branch: Education (Men & Women); Technical Branch: (i) Engineering Branch [General Service (GS)] (Men) (ii) Electrical Branch [General Service (GS)] (Men)

Depending on the branch/cadre, those with BE/B.Tech; M.Tech /MBA; B.Sc / B.Com / MCA / M.Sc. etc in specified branches/subjects can apply for various positions. There are conditions on the marks to be secured at various levels and also on age of the applicant, the details of which are given in the Notification at (Current events link).

Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 4 years in 2 terms (2 years + 2 years), subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of candidates.
Shortlisting of application will be based on normalised marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree.

For candidates who have completed or in final year of BE/B Tech, marks obtained up to fifth semester will be considered for SSB shortlisting. For candidates who have completed MSc, MCA, MBA, M Tech, marks obtained in all semesters will be considered. For candidates who are in final year, shortlisting will be based on pre-final year performance. The detailed selection procedure is given in the Notification.
