Research Admissions at Bose Institute Kolkata: Apply by April 20

Bose Institute Kolkata, an autonomous research institute of Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, has invited applications for admission to the PhD Programme of the Institute for Spring 2022 session.

Areas of research include Atmospheric Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Applied Biosciences. The details of the projects in each area are listed in Annexure-I of the Notification at http://www.jcbose.ac.in/. One can apply simultaneously to a maximum of two positions as mentioned in the list.

Eligibility: Applicant should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/ Science/ Technology with at least 55 % of marks (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled and other categories of candidates, as per UGC norms).

Age limit: Applicant should be below 28 years as on 30th September 2022. Relaxation of age is applicable as per Government of India rules.

Applicants should have an award of JRF (CSIR-UGC JRF/ DBT-JRF/ ICMR-JRF/ DST- INSPIRE/DBT-BINC or equivalent), with validity of 30th September, 2022 or later.

Application: Application can be submitted online at the link provided in the Notification at http://www.jcbose.ac.in/ latest by 6 pm on April 20th, 2022. Those who are in the final year of their Master’s degree programme and are in possession of an award of a JRF can also apply provisionally. Applicants are required to provide a Statement of Purpose (SOP), for each of the positions she/he applies for in prescribed format available at link provided.

An acknowledgement receipt will be generated following successful submission of the online application form. Candidates should retain this receipt for future reference and must produce this if called for the interview.

Selection: Interviews will be held tentatively during the middle May, 2022, in the offline mode. Past academic record will be the basis for shortlisting of candidates for interview. Names of the shortlisted candidates, along with the date and time of interview will be displayed on the Institute website by April 29th 2022. Those qualifying in the interview will be called for counselling. Following counselling, the final list of selected candidates will be displayed on the Institute website.
