Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has invited applications for admission to its Ph.D Programme for the academic year 2022-23.
Ph.D Programmes are offered in Biological Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Science & Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Materials Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Chemistry; Mathematics; Physics; Cognitive Science; Earth Sciences; Humanities and Social Sciences-Philosophy, Political Science, Social Epidemiology, Sociology, Literature, Archaeology, Development Economics.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold M.A./M.Sc./B.Tech./M.Tech. /BS (IISc, IISER)/BS-MS (IISER) or equivalent degree in appropriate branches with at least 55% marks or 5.5 CPI marks in. This eligibility criterion is minimum at Institute level. The discipline wise minimum eligibility criteria are given in the link provided at https://iitgn.ac.in/admissions/phd.
The disciplines may use higher cut off levels for short listing besides giving due consideration to the way questions are answered in the application form. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories would be eligible for relaxations, as per norms, in the selection criteria.
Admission Categories: Regular (RR) Fulltime residential research candidate and Continuing Doctoral Programme (CDP) for those working in industry or as a faculty in any educational institution. Details are given at the website.
Admission is generally offered on the basis of an interview, which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and/or interview based on the academic records, statement of purpose, etc. The final selection will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.
Applications: Applications can be submitted online at https://iitgn.ac.in/admissions/phd latest by 31.3.2022. If applying for more than one discipline, separate application should be submitted for each discipline. Application Fees is Rs. 300/- (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PD Category)
After successful submission of the application form, applicant will receive an application number and a link to download the application form. The application form must be saved. Applicant need to furnish hardcopy of the application form and self-attested copies of all the relevant documents at the time of interview.
Students joining the Ph.D. program as regulars (RR) may be considered for the Institute Fellowship (subjected to availability of fund) based on norms specified at the admission portal.
