PhD Admissions at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade: Apply by June 25

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has invited applications for admission to the Ph.D Program in Economics (Full time/Part time) being offered at the Delhi and Kolkata Campuses of the Institute.

The Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum of three years, including course work and maximum of six years. The PwD (more than 40% disability) candidates may be allowed a relaxation of two years in the maximum duration of the programme. In addition, women candidates may be provided Maternity Leave / CCL once in the entire duration of Ph.D. for up to 240 days and are eligible for a relaxation of two years in the maximum duration of the programme.

During the first year, selected scholars need to complete the course work at the Institute covering two semesters. On successful completion of the course work including Seminar Paper and approval of the proposed research topic (Synopsis Confirmation), a confirmation certificate will be issued along with the name of Ph.D. Supervisor. A three member Doctoral Advisory Committee (DAC) will be set up for each scholar for his / her doctoral research. The scholar has to present his/her research progress to the DAC at least two times a year. There is a minimum period of 2 years from the date of receiving the synopsis confirmation certificate after which the doctoral thesis can be submitted for external evaluation.

Eligibility: Applicant should hold Master’s degree in Economics/allied subjects from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/ OBC(NCL)/DA) or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% may also be allowed to those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. Those who are in the final year of the Master’s degree in Economics or allied subjects are also eligible to apply. There is no age limit.

Selection: A two-stage process is followed for admission to IIFT Ph.D. Programme.

Stage I: AI Proctoring Based Entrance test comprising of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Econometrics & Mathematics (at least up to Graduate Level) shall be conducted on 9th July 2022. Written Entrance Test is a screening test.

Stage II: Candidates who would qualify in the Written Entrance Test will be called for the Interview.

Applicant must clearly mention in the online application, whether he /she is applying for admission to Ph.D. in Economics (Full- time or Part-Time) Programme, 2022 for Delhi Campus or Kolkata Campus.

Application Fee is Rs, 2,500/- (Rs, 1,250 for SC/ST/PwD candidates) to be paid online.

There is no programme fee for Indian Full-Time Ph.D. Scholars.
