Ph.D. programme at UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research in Indore; Apply by Dec 31

UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research (CSR), one of the premier research institutions in the country and having advanced research facilities at Indore, Mumbai, Kolkata and Kalpakkam (Tamil Nadu), has invited applications for admission to its Doctoral research program leading to Ph.D. degree in Physics and some inter-disciplinary areas.

The main research areas of the consortium at Indore, Mumbai, Kolkata and Kalpakkam include: Physics at Low Temperatures and High Magnetic Fields, Surfaces/Interfaces, Thin Films and Nano Materials, Neutron scattering studies of materials, X-ray, Optical and Electron Spectroscopic Studies using Synchrotron and Laboratory Sources; Electrical, Magnetic and Thermal Properties of materials; Nano-Biosciences, Nuclear Technique Based Condensed Matter Physics- Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy, Mossbauer Spectroscopy, Experimental Nuclear Physics, Gamma Ray Spectroscopy of Nuclear High Spin States, Nuclear Reactions and Theoretical condensed matter physics.

For the winter session, approximate vacancies at different centers are as follows: Indore -11; Mumbai -3; Kolkata -3, Kalpakkam Node- 4

Eligibility: Applicant should hold M.Sc. degree in Physics with a minimum of 55% overall marks and must have either qualified Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2020 rank within 300) and/or have a valid CSIR-UGC NET and/or DST-Inspire Fellowship (Ph.D.)

Selection: Selection will be a two-step process -Screening of applications, followed by an online interview of the shortlisted candidates.

The short-listed candidates shall be called for online interview to be conducted tentatively during 15th January 2021 - 25th January 2021. The applicant must indicate the preference of CSR Centres option in the application form. After the above selection process, the students will be distributed to different centers of the Consortium, depending on the option of the students and vacancies.

Selected students would be registered for Ph.D. with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore (for Indore Centre), Calcutta University, Kolkata (for Kolkata Centre), University of Madras, Chennai (for Kalpakkam node) and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) (for Mumbai Centre).
