National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar has invited applications from Indian citizens for admission to Ph.D program scheduled to commence in August, 2023 (Summer Session) in the various schools of NISER, Bhubaneswar.
PhD Program is offered in the Schools of Biological Sciences (SBS), Chemical Sciences (SCS), Computer Sciences (SCPS), Earth & Planetary Sciences (SEPS), Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), Mathematical Sciences (SMS) and Physical Sciences (SPS). Main eligibility for admission to different schools are as follows:
Biological Sciences: Masters or M. Tech or M. Pharm in any branches of Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmacy (any specialization), Veterinary Sciences, Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology.
Chemical Sciences: Masters in Chemistry or allied Chemistry fields.
Computer Sciences: Masters in Mathematics or Masters in Computer Science or M.Tech or M.E. in Computer Science/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related fields.
Earth & Planetary Sciences: Masters or M.Tech or M.E in Physics/Astronomy and Astrophysics /Geology/ Geophysics/ Earth Science / Chemistry /Space / Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences / Engineering Physics/ Mechanical engineering / Civil engineering / Computer engineering.
Humanities and Social Sciences: Masters in Social Sciences or in allied disciplines.
Mathematical Sciences: Master’s degree
Physical Sciences: Masters in Physics or M.E / M.Tech in Applied Physics.
Those with other specified Masters qualifications, 4 year / 8 semester Bachelor’s degree etc; depending on the school, can apply to different programs, details of which are given in the detailed Notification at https://www.niser.ac.in/
Applicants are required to have the specified mark/Grade in the qualifying examination.
All applicants are required to have Qualified in a National Level Examination depending on the School. They include CSIR-UGC-NET (LS or JRF) /GATE/JEST/GPAT/DBT/ICMR/JGEEBILS/GATE (Humanities and Social Science)/ICSSR fellowship/ NBHM/any other equivalent national level examination valid for the academic year August 2023-July 2024. Details are given in the Notification.

Application: Application is to be submitted online at the link at http://www.niser.ac.in latest by 30th April, 2023. The list of Short-listed candidates will be uploaded at the website during 5th to 16th May, 2023.
For School of Mathematical Sciences, online Application portal will re-open on 20th May, 2023 for students qualified in NBHM MSc/PhD written test 2023. The last date for filling up online application for them is 28th May, 2023. List of Short-listed candidates will be uploaded on 31st May, 2023.
