As the admissions to the Plus One courses in state schools have begun in Kerala, students and parents eye on the number of vacancies.
Many students secured A+ grade in all subjects in the SSLC examination could not secure admission to their favourite stream or school.
Priorities are given to students’ own school (in which they completed SSLC) and local body. This resulted in denial of favourite schools for many other applicants.
Students from CBSE and other syllabi are worried about the situation. They are normally considered for supplementary allotment.
Education minister V Sivankutty said that increasing seats will ensure admissions for all. Above this, seats will be increased in unaided schools as well, he said.
Admission on first allotment will continue on September 25, 29 and October 1. The second allotment will be published on October 7.
