Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Program at Colleges of Fine Arts in Kerala

Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, has invited applications for admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Program at Colleges of Fine Arts in Kerala.

The Colleges offering the Program are (i) College of Fine Arts, Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram- 695 033 (ii) Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikkara- 690 101 (both affiliated to University of Kerala) (iii) College of Fine Arts, Thrissur- 680 020 affiliated to University of Calicut.

The duration of the course is 4 years. The first year of the course is termed as common course and the remaining 3 years are allocated for specializations in Painting, Sculpture and Applied Art in college of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram and Mavelikkara and specialization in Painting, Sculpture, Applied Art and Art History and Visual studies in college of Fine Arts, Thrissur. These specialized branches in the second year will be offered based on the percentage of marks obtained in the first Year University examination and the options exercised by the students. The specialized branch in Art History and Visual Studies at College of Fine Arts, Thrissur is offered on the basis of their option in application form and ranks obtained in BFA entrance examination at the time of their first-year admission.

Eligibility: Applicant must have passed +2 or equivalent Examination and should have completed 17 years of age as on the 31 st December 2022. There is no upper age limit.

Application fee is Rs.600/- (Rs. 300/- for SC/ST Candidates). The fee can be paid online.

Those seeking admission in BFA Art History and Visual Studies need to fill an additional field in the BFA application form itself to opt for Art History Specialization.

Selection: Selection will be made on the basis of an entrance examination (written/ practical). The entrance examination consists of four parts, with an aggregate total of 305 marks. The detailed structure of the test, the parts to be answered by the candidates etc are detailed in the Prospectus.
