Admissions at Chennai Mathematical Institute: Apply by April 30

Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), Chennai, has invited applications for admission to various Programmes offered by it for 2022-23.

The Programmes and Eligibility for Admission are as follows:

For admission to the 3-Year B.Sc. (Honours) Programme in (i) Mathematics and Computer Science and (ii) Mathematics and Physics, applicant should have passed 12th standard/equivalent examination from a recognized board.

M.Sc. in Mathematics: Applicant should have a B.A., B.Sc, B.Math, B.Stat, B.E or B.Tech with a strong background in Mathematics.

M.Sc. in Computer Science: B.A., B.Sc., B.Math. B.Stat., B.E., B.Tech with a strong background in Computer science.

M.Sc. in Data Science: B.A., B.Sc., B.Math. B.Stat., B.E., B.Tech with a strong background in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science.

Those awaiting results of the quapifying examination can apply for B.Sc and M.Sc Programs.

Ph.D. in Mathematics: M.Sc. in Mathematics/equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science.

Ph.D. in Computer Science: B.E., B.Tech., M.Sc or M.C.A. or Bachelor’s degree in Science.

Ph.D. in Physics: M.Sc. degree in Physics or equivalent.

Selection: For all programmes other than Ph.D. in Physics, selection will be based on an entrance examination to be held on 22nd May 2022 at Centres across the country from 2 pm. The Examination for B.Sc. (Hons.) programmes (common entrance examination for both) and M.Sc Data Science will be till 5.30 pm and for others, the entrance examination will be till 5 pm.

There is no separate CMI entrance examination for Ph.D. Physics. The selection will be based on Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) 2022.

Those awarded the NBHM PhD Fellowship are exempted from entrance examination for PhD in Mathematics. Those qualified in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2022) in Theoretical Computer Science, are exempted from the entrance examination for PhD in Computer Science.

Those with specific achievements as specified in the Information Brochure applying for B.Sc Programs are exempted from B.Sc Entrance Examination.

There may be interviews in the second stage of selection.
