How can the National security act be applied to a person connected with land revenue matters? But due to appalling ignorance of the Act UP Govt officials interpreted the Act to suit their whims and fancies.

The SC had no other way but to nullify it terming it as a move that shocked it.

Yusuf Malik a leader of the Samajwadi Party was detained as recommended by the Moradabad

Police by a wrong interpretation of the Act that irked the Court. So that the detention order passed by the Govt was set aside.

The NSA Act deals with persons who pose a threat to national security. Act deals with the situations under which Act can be invoked. But the police said Malik threatened the municipal authorities attracting such a situation by non-application of mind and patently by a wrong interpretation of the Act

How can NSA be invoked in a revenue matter?

SC said it was so shocking as well that the top officials who examined the file's for Govt to pass detention orders also did the illegality. It totally disturbed the Court
