The Madras High Court has observed that some officials of the Revenue Department deliberately issue illegal orders, not out of ignorance, but due to corruption, in order to assist land encroachers.

The Court has nullified an illegal order issued by the Zonal Deputy Tahsildar of Devakottai and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.

Tamil Nadu has a law in place to address encroachments that has been established for over 100 years. However, certain officials misuse this law to support encroachers, as stated by the Court.

This case is just one example, as the Court has consistently overturned such illegal orders on numerous occasions.
