How many presidents can a political party have? the Supreme Court asked on a sarcastic note.

Swami Chakrapani styled himself as President of Akhil Bharath Hindu Mahasabha but the election Commission declined to accept him heading a political party. The Delhi high court upheld such a view that was challenged by him in the Supreme Court.

The SC while dismissing his petition observed that even the claim of the petitioner is in dispute. So the only course open to him is to approach the civil court.

The SC observed that there are many who have claimed to be presidents. In such a situation, unless the dispute is resolved, the court cannot act. No purpose will be served when the Swamis fight themselves. It is an unfortunate situation, the SC said .
