Kozhikode: Eminent critic, biographer and orator MK Sanu has been selected for this year's Mathrubhumi Literary Award in recognition of his rich contribution to the field of Malayalam literature.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a citation and a statuette designed by M V Devan.
He was selected by a panel chaired by Vishnu Narayanan Namboothiri. Dr M Leelavathy and C Radhakrishnan were the other members of the jury, said Mathrubhumi Managing Director M P Veerendra Kumar and Managing Editor P V Chandran.
MK Sanu has proved his mettle in the fields of criticism and in writing biographies.
MK Sanu was born to Alappuzha Mangalathu Veettil MC Kesavan and KP Bhavani on October 27, 1928. Sanu, who is married to Rathnamma, has five children.
Changampuzha Krishnapilla: Nakshatrangalude Snehabhajanam, Narayanaguru Swami, Mruthyunjayam Kavyajeevitham, Sahodaran. K. Ayyappan, Kattum Velichavum, Chakravalam, Rajaveedhi, Viswasathilek Veendum American Sahityam and Prabhatha Darshanam are his important works.
MK Sanu is a recipient of several coveted honours, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Vayalar Award, Padmaprabha Award, Kendra Sahitya Adademi Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for his overall contributions.
