I have been constantly staying in room number 504 at Palmgrove Hotel, Chennai. Priyan used to stay with me in that room before he became a resident of Chennai. One day, after returning from the shoot I went to sleep. Priyan was not there. The door wasn’t locked since I didn’t want Priyan to come and wake me up.
I had just fallen asleep when I heard a woman’s scream. I woke up in shock to see a woman standing with her half removed saree in her hands. She had mistaken that it was her room. After removing her saree, she had switched the light on. That’s when she saw me sleeping there. She started screaming.
I was half awake rubbing my eyes. She was shouting at me saying that I had trespassed into her room. I told her that it was my room and therefore she was the one at fault. Soon enough she realized her fault that she was the one who had made the mistake. She grabbed her saree and ran outside saying sorry.
While staying in the same room, another incident had happened. It was 12.30 in the night when I heard a knock on the door. I was sleeping at that time. When I opened the door, I saw an SI and CI standing in front of me. I was shocked to see them. I asked them what the matter was. They explained to me very politely that they had come to search the hotel after receiving information that some Tamil Tigers are staying there. They also mentioned that they have permission to search every room. I agreed. They entered the room and searched the bathroom as well. Before leaving they apologized saying that it was done as part of their duty. Even though I pardoned them and went inside, I couldn’t get any sleep that night.
Before going for the shoot the next day, I went to the reception and asked them if they knew why the police had come yesterday. I also asked them why they did not mention that I have been staying there for a long time.
That is when they told me that the police had not come searching for Tamil Tigers. They had received a complaint that a Mollywood actress’s brother had kidnapped a girl. They had come to investigate the hotel after receiving information that someone was helping them hide in this hotel.
