World cannot be transformed through writing: Anita Nair
Sharjah: Indian English writer Anita Nair opined that she does not believe writing can transform the world. All writers are confronted with doubts and anxieties of a debut writer every time they write something. Such a stage fright is beneficial for creative writing, the author said at an interaction during Sharjah International Book Festival.
The society maintains an unwritten belief that a noble woman should not have any desires. I try to defeat this belief through writing. I don’t think women are victims of social media. These social media have brought changes in the life and perspective of everyone. As a result of this, both good and bad things happen in their lives, Anita Nair said.
We are very interested to ‘record’ any event that occurs in our surroundings. The social media is only a tool. Instead of melting into them, we have to interact with the people around us. Living in the present is most important. Things in the past and future are not in our control, she stated. Chithra Raghavan was the moderator of the event.
