After 25 years, Mathrubhumi Vishu Special Edition literary competition winners meet again
Kollam: Two eminent writers who won the first and second prize in Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Special Edition literary competition in 1994 met again at Mathrubhumi Study Circle state literary camp held at Munroe Island. The camp is being held at Perungalam Mar Thoma Dhyana Theeram at Ashtamudi in Kollam from December 6-8.
The first prize winner Subhash Chandran, who is also the camp director, and the second prize winner K Rekha met at the camp 25 years after the competition. K Rekha arrived at the camp to lead the session ‘Penpenakal’.
Subhash Chandran’s story ‘Ghadikarangal Nilakkunna Samayam’ was selected for first prize in Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Special Edition literary competition in 1994 whereas Rekha’s story ‘Mrithi Vrutham’ won the second prize. They shared the experience with the students at the camp.
“I arrived at the camp doubting if the participants are genuinely interested in literature and reading. But once I took part in it, I could see that the participants have true respect for language. I have great hope on these students,” Rekha said.
It was coincidental that the winners of Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Special Edition literary competition met again when Mathrubhumi is planning to resume it again.
