Writer U A Khader presented with Mathrubhumi Literary Award
Kozhikode: Noted writer U A Khader was presented with Mathrubhumi Literary Award 2019 on Monday. The award included a purse of Rs 3 lakh, a sculpture and a felicitation letter. Writer T Padmanabhan presented the award to Khader at the function held at K P Kesava Menon Hall in Kozhikode.
“U A Khader is a writer who pens the life around his, as he sees it, without any exaggeration,” Padmanabhan said.
After receiving the award, Khader said that he felt like he ‘got a gift from his mother’.
“I see this honour as amalgamation of my literary life. While receiving this award I can feel mother’s love,” he further added.
Novelist M Mukundan said that Khader is a writer who brought his own personality and life into writing. A person who made writing as his life and a person who held secularism in his writing. More than the award amount, honours like these are an opportunity for the books to be read again, he added.
Khader is a person who rejected modernisation, said writer R Rajasree.
The function was presided by Mathrubhumi Managing Director M P Veerendra Kumar MP. Mathrubhumi Managing Editor P V Chandran gave away the welcome address. Mathrubhumi Director M J Vijaya Padman presented Khader with the shawl. Writer Subash Chandran delivered the vote of thanks.
