Teacher selling books to raise funds for class 4 student's treatment
Eramangalam (Malappuram): A school teacher is selling books to raise funds for the treatment of a student.
Ramya Babu, a teacher at Puthuponnani ALP School, is selling books to raise funds required for the treatment of Samika, a class 4 student of Ezhavathiruthy ALP School.
Samika, daughter of Ponnani native Muhammed Shafi, met with the accident when she was coming home with her grandmother after school on December 18, 2019. When they were crossing the road at Chamravattom junction, a car hit them. Her grandmother succumbed to injuries later. Samika sustained serious head injury and is undergoing treatment.
Samika's family is unable to take her to a private hospital in Vellore for further treatment due to financial issues. On knowing this, Ramya Babu decided to help them by selling her first book 'Irulmeghangalkk Parayanullath', a collection of poems, and give the money earned through this to Samika.
Ramya is selling the book on the streets and with the help of her friends. Ramya also has strong support of her teacher Prema, a teacher of Ponnani New LP School. She plans to sell 100 copies of the book which is priced at Rs 100 per copy and hand over the amount to Samika's family for her treatment.
