Peerumedu (Idukki): A social worker from Peerumedu has obtained India Book of Record by writing the history of Mangala Devi Temple. Sukumari Devi, the chairperson of Mangala Devi Charitable Trust, found her way to the India Book of Records by penning the book.
The book titled 'Cheramar Vamshavum Swathwabodhavum' is the first of its kind to be published in Malayalam. Sukumari Devi published the book in the name of the Trust and bore all expenses. The book is about the Mangala Devi Temple and has already been translated to English and Tamil.
Former chief minister Oommen Chandy honoured Sukumari Devi on knowing about her achievement. Sukumari's husband Raju hails from Kudamaloor and is working as forester in Peerumedu. The couple have a daughter named Meenakshi.
