Minister for Agriculture V S Sunil Kumar released the book ‘Manputtu’ written by K R Jayan aka Plavu Jayan and published by Mathrubhumi Books. The book was received by Dr C R Elsy, professor at Kerala Agricultural University.
‘Manputtu’ is a book that narrates the journey of an ordinary farmer to the inner layers of the soil which is the base of his survival. Author Plavu Jayan is famous for his attempt to plant and nurture thousands of jackfruit trees that belong to different varieties.
Late poet Sugathakumari had penned the foreword to the book. She had written in the foreword that the notes in the book were written by the author with his experience of planting and growing jackfruit saplings and they will benefit the earth and the nature.
