Kozhikode: Writer T. Padmanabhan asked how can Deepa Nisanth teach students after being involved in the poetry plagiarism row. Despite plagiarising the poem, such a person was included in the judging panel of Malayalam essay writing competition in the State School Arts Festival. All these incidents were really hurtful to me, he stated.
T. Padmanabhan showered criticism when he arrived for the inauguration of the education fest organised by Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA), a pro-Left association, at Kozhikode. DPI K. V. Mohan Kumar IAS and others were also present at the dais when Padmanabhan expressed his opinion.
No matter which caste or creed they belong, such a person should not have been invited for evaluation. She is said to be a poet, but she was involved in the controversy after plagiarising poem. It is extremely saddening to hear her name in a literary world which was reigned by Balamani Amma and Sugathakumari.
Deepa Nisanth, who was recently involved in a poetry plagiarism row, was brought for judging the essay writing competitions in the State School Arts Festival held in Alappuzha under the leadership of DPI Mohan Kumar and others. They also justified the decision stating that she was included in the judging panel because she was qualified.
After this decision led to another controversy, the government cancelled the evaluation to save face. T. Padmanabhan harshly criticised these events at the venue of a programme organised by pro-Left teachers’ association.
