Death threat against poet Murukan Kattakkada; complaint filed
Thiruvananthapuram: Death threats have been raised against poet and lyricist Murukan Kattakkada for penning songs for the LDF in connection with the campaign for assembly election.
An anonymous person called the writer on phone and threatened that he will be killed inch by inch at his residence. Following this, Murukan Kattakkada filed a complaint with Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP and Cyber Crime police station.
LDF had widely used the song ‘Manushyanakanam’ written by Murukan Kattakkada during their election campaign across the state. The song was penned for the movie ‘Choppu’, a biopic of playwright E K Ayamu. The death threat was raised in connection with this.
Purogamana Kalasahithya Sangham (PuKaSa), DYFI and other organisations expressed protest over the incident. They made it clear that Kerala will resist such attack on the creativity and democracy.
PuKaSa state president Shaji N Karun and general secretary Ashokan Charuvil demanded that protests should be held across the state against this threat on creativity.
