900 school students set up home library with Rs 2.5 lakh worth books
Kodiyathoor (Kozhikode): Inspiring the younger generation to develop reading habit, Kodiyathur GMUP School set a model by opening home libraries in the residences of all students. The programme was initiated with an aim to inspire the entire villagers to engage in reading.
Home libraries were set up in the households of over 900 students in the school. Writer K P Ramanunni inaugurated the announcement of the completion of home library scheme and distribution of books.
Over 5000 books worth Rs 2.5 lakh which were collected with the help of volunteers and NGOs were distributed to the students for free. School teachers, PTA members, panchayat authorities and others also attended the event.
