350 writers to attend Mathrubhumi Lit Fest
Kozhikode: The common theme of this year’s Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters is ‘Shrinking spaces and transcending boundaries’. The discourse will cover topics from all walks of life such as literature, culture, politics, arts environment, social life and media.
Around 350 writers from Asia, Africa and Europe will take part in the third edition of the International Festival of Letters.
Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair, Malayalam poet K. Satchidanandan, British poet of Caribbean Origin Dean Atta, British poet, the official poet of 2012- London Olympics and Jury member of Booker Prize awards Lemn Sissay, Indian mythologist and writer Devdutt Pattanaik, British writer Francesca Cartier, Former Zimbabwean cricketer Tatenda Taibu, Chandrasekhara Kambar from Kannada, British writer of Sri Lankan Origin Romeh Gunasekhara among others will take part in the discourse at Kanakakkunnu Palace.
Shashi Tharoor and Jayaram Ramesh will also be part of the discussions. Soliloquy, book readings, book exhibitions, writing workshops, art exhibitions are features which adds a distinct identity to the festival.
The Mathrubhumi ‘Book of the year award’, which was arranged to honour and celebrate the best of Indian literature, will also be declared and distributed at the festival.
The cultural programmes at the end of each day will add glitter to festival.
