Writer E Harikumar passes away
Thrissur: Novelist and short story writer E. Harikumar passed away here on Monday night. He was 77.
He has won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1988 for his collection of short stories titled 'Dinosaurinte Kutti'. He also bagged the Padmarajan Award for the short story 'Pachappayyine Pidikkan' and Nalappadan Award for the story 'Sookshichuvecha Mayilpeeli'.
Harikumar was born to poet Edasseri Govindan Nair and Janaki Amma on July 13, 1943 in Ponnani. He educated from Ponnani AV High School and Calcutta University and started working in different Indian cities from 1961.
His first story 'Mazhayulla Rathriyil' was published in 1962. He published over 20 books including 'Urangunna Sarpangal', 'Aasakthiyude Agninalangal', 'Oru Kudumbapuranam', 'Engine Drivere Snehicha Penkutti', 'Thadakatheerathu', 'Pranayathinoru Software' and 'Kochambratti'.
