Shakespeare fan from Thrissur makes his 'poetical portrait', owns 7 records
Thrissur: The admiration to the world's greatest writer William Shakespeare has earned a handful of records for Vadama native Varsha Binth Saif. She drew a picture of the writer including the titles of 154 sonnets, 17 comedies, 10 tragedies, 10 historic plays and 5 poems penned by Shakespeare.
All works of the writer and other details from birth to death are included in the picture. It took 4 hours to complete the drawing. Varsha drew the picture in order to set a record by completing it in the shortest duration possible.
With this, she obtained 7 records including India Book of Records, Asian Book of Records, International Book of Records, European Book of Records, High Range Book of Records, American Book of Records and London World book of Records.
Varsha has become the first person to own all these records. She also received a 11-month scholarship from the De Montfort University in Leicester of England.
First, she was pursuing studies in science stream and later switched to English literature due to admiration for Shakespeare. She decided to set the records as a tribute to the great writer.
Daughter of Saifudheen and Femina, Varsha is a research fellow in English at St Aloysius College in Thrissur. She is married to Najih Subair.
