Bio-manure is most suitable for vegetable cultivation. Most of the farmers buy organic fertilizers from Krishi Bhavan or other agricultural shops. Instead of this, we can produce bio-manure at our home.
The only item required for this is eggshells. We have to keep the shells of egg used in kitchen or buy the used egg shells from tea shops or hotels.
Also, we can try collecting eggshells from roadside. This is much better than throwing away the shells and littering the compound.
Once sufficient amount of eggshells is collected, dry them thoroughly in a place with plenty of sunlight. The shells have to be kept under sun for 2-3 days until the moisture dries up.
Then grind them well to a fine powder. Then put this egg shell powder under the vegetable plants. This will boost growth of the plants.
Eggshell contains calcium and minerals aplenty. It is of the same quality of lime which we use to reduce the acidity of soil. Lime contains calcium carbonate.
About 97 percent of an eggshell is calcium carbonate. Besides it has phosphorous, magnesium, sodium, potassium and other essential minerals.
Eggshell is also good to control pests and snails that attack vegetable plants. It is better to add some eggshell powder while filling the grow bags.
