This 'Snehathottam' has 10 feet tall plants, 30 kilo weighing yams
Kottayam: The elephant foot yam plantation owned by Kangazha native Abdul Rahman Ravuthar is witnessing huge crowd and selfie clicks every day. All are curious about the extraordinary size of the yams on this farm. The yam plants are over 10 feet tall and the giant yams weigh over 30 kilograms here.
The 53-year-old farmer has named his farm 'Snehathottam' meaning `farm of love'. He started farming after retiring from PWD. He could earn a decent profit from yam farming which he started three years ago. All the yams harvested last year weighed about 30-35 kilograms.
Abdul Rahman follows only organic method of farming. However, when asked about the secret behind the giant yams on his farm, he said care with love to get better yield.
