Lockdown turns mike operator into farmer; Anil Kumar tells his success saga
A busy mike operator, Anil Kumar had to take an unexpected break from his career after the COVID lockdown was imposed. He was on a race in festival grounds while the restrictions were implemented. With this, the expensive equipments had to be kept in the godown. But he trusted agriculture.
Anil went straight to the land taken for lease and started cultivating different varieties of crops. He did not wait for the farming methods aiming at Onam season and started cultivation early. He tried a wide variety of crops in the farm.
The major attraction in his farm is the giant snake gourd which is longer than a tall human. Bitter gourd, long beans, okra, brinjal, chilli, ginger, turmeric and all crops gave stunning yield in a short span of time. This boosted his confidence.
Now Anil aims at starting fish farming in cooperation with the landlord. He has built a large fish pond in 5-cent plot for this purpose. He has also plans to try paddy farming. His wife Liji and son Ambadi give him full support in his farming goals.
