Now everyone appreciates the brothers, Siju and Sijo, for their different career choice.
Minister V S Sunil Kumar arrived at the farm for inaugurating tapioca farming as part of Subhiksha Keralam scheme. The Krishi Bhavan of the area recommended the farm of Siju and Sijo for inaugural ceremony after noticing their excellence in agriculture.
Before starting agriculture, Sijo was working as a petrol pump service engineer and Siju was a marketing officer at a tourism company. Hailing from Elanad in Pazhayannur, the brothers quit their jobs two years ago. They started farming on 13 acres of land within Thrissur corporation limits.
Banana, tapioca and yam are mainly cultivated in the farm at Kachery Merlin Gardens at Nadathara. Two types of bananas are cultivated here. 1500 among them are local variety bananas and 2000 are Nenthran bananas. They use rented machines for farm works.
