Automobile engineer dedicates life for agriculture; continues banana farming for 13 yrs
Malappuram: For the last 13 years, Chaliyar Kakkadampoyil Thottappally native Aneesh Joy has been cultivating banana. When people quit farming saying it is not profitable, Aneesh is achieving his goals through agriculture.
An automobile engineer by profession, Aneesh has also completed Diploma in Process Control Instrumentation. He worked in Punjab for some years. Later, he tried to go to Canada but it was delayed due to some technical reasons.
Following this, Aneesh started cultivating banana. There are about 7000 banana plants in his farm at present and he is busy harvesting. Aneesh’s parents Joy and Eliyamma also are farmers. Aneesh is planning to buy a 46-cent land and construct a house with the profit from farming.
The 32-year-old is of the opinion that people have lost respect for farmers though they provide food for all. Sometimes, fair price denied for the crops and it is a major setback, he said. Aneesh’s parents came to Thottappally in Chaliyar in the beginning of 1970s. He has a poultry farm too.
