A Keralite farmer in Maldives
Mananthavady: A Young farmer from Wayanad has made a remarkable achievement in vegetable cultivation at Maldives.
Puthiyamattam Sunny from Panamaram produces vegetables for the Malayalees at Maldives. Vegetables from Sunny’s farm have great demand as he uses organic methods to produce it.
Tomato, green chilly, ash gourd, brinjal, spinach, bitter gourd, peas, snake gourd and curry leaves are being produced in Sunny’s farm.
Sunny Thomas, son of Puthiyamattam Thomas and Annamma, have been living in Maldives since 8 years. Sunny started vegetable farming after realizing that the sand in Maldives is suitable for vegetable cultivation.
He used to collect seeds of vegetables while visiting Kerala.
His wife Kochumol who is a nurse and two children Sachin and Sanjay help him in his vegetable garden.
Tourists, as well as residents in Maldives, prefer to purchase these organically grown vegetables from Sunny’s garden.
