Thrissur: In a battle to get life back on track, a lady took resort in farming. When Shamla was estranged in life 10 years ago, she had only a 3-acre barren land near Peringannur in Mundur here. Through hard work and determination, she educated her children with the income from agriculture.
Shamla’s efforts finally yielded result as both her children studied well and passed with flying colours. Her battle continues even at the age of 44. Shamla’s daughter Devi completed MBBS from abroad and started practice in their native place.
Son Shiva passed medical entrance and is waiting for admission. Both of them had passed SSLC with A1 grade in all subjects. 18-year-old Shiva is also the creator of the fantasy web novel ‘The Life of Normal – Taro’ that garnered 2.14 lakh views on YouTube.
Shamla had passed Home Science and had no previous experience in farming. But now she cultivates vegetables, paddy, tapioca and fish and rears buffaloes. Though she has many debts to clear which was taken for educating her children, she hopes to manage it all through farming.
