Rajapuram: ‘Kathir’, a women’s collective, is reaping success after cultivating cauliflower and cabbage in a leased farm land spread over 50 cents at Payacherivayal here in Kasargod district.
The collective had to spend Rs 35,000 for the cultivation, which was done on an experimental basis. Though some of the seedlings which was bought for Rs 2 dried up due to climate change, they managed to reap a decent harvest after two-and-a-half months.
They used only organic fertilizers for the cultivation. The project was implemented as per the directives of Kallar Krishi Bhavan.
Usha Raveendrran, Shyamala Narayanan, Sathi Harikrishnan, C Usha and Karthyayani Kunjambu are members of the women’s collective.
