Agri minister visits MBA holder who quit manager post to become organic farmer
Kanjikkuzhi (Alappuzha): Minister for Agriculture V S Sunil Kumar visited an MBA holder who quit his manager post in a plantation company and engaged in organic farming. The minister appreciated Muhamma native Philip K Chacko after visiting his organic farm in Kanjikkuzhi here.
The 31-year-old farmer leased 33 acres of land in Kanjikkuzhi and a 3 acre in Muhamma for organic cultivation. He manages vegetable farming, buffalo rearing, fish farming and ornamental poultry farm successfully. Minister Sunil Kumar planted the first saplings in his farm at Kundelatt in Kanjikkuzhi.
Philip completed MBA in 2013 and joined as manager in a real estate company in Kochi and then in a private plantation company in Kottayam. Later, he quit the job due to the passion for organic farming. He started a hi-tech farm named ‘Pure Harvest’ in January 2020. Watermelon is cultivated in 5 acres of land and it is the major crop in the farm.
Okra, long beans, pumpkin, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, cucumber, spinach, cucumber, green gram, sesame, black gram, onion, potato and shallot also are growing in the farm. Philip’s parents K J Philip and Theklamma and his wife Anmary Antony also support him in his farming venture.
