Plant diseases always attack the crops and result in huge loss. Even when the plants are grown in grow bags, the diseases never fail to kill them.
Germs and microbes hibernate completely in soil. They become active only under favourable circumstances. Soon after a seed or sapling is planted, some fluids come out of it. This act as a catalytic agent for the microbes.
To prevent this activation of microbes like bacteria and fungus, a new Trichoderma enriched product has been developed – Tricho Cake. It is a cake shaped product. The antibiotics released from the cake can resist the microbes.
Usually, a small hole is made in the potting mixture filled in the grow bag before planting the seed. Put a Tricho Cake in this hole and then plant the seed or sapling to safeguard it. Diseases that affect coconut trees can be prevented by placing a Tricho Cake on top of the tree.
Tricho Cakes are ready for sale in the parasite breeding station of agriculture department in Kasaragod district. Ease of using and low price also make Tricho Cakes the favourite of grow bag farmers.
