Grape vine in high range garden bears fruit, pulls crowd
Kattappana (Idukki): When all are staying indoors during lockdown, Kattappana native native Biju is harvesting grapes from the garden at his house. Biju bought the grape vine from Kambam four years ago, but it did not bloomed even after the vine grew. So, he thought the plant would not bear fruits in high range.
After the lockdown was imposed, he searched in YouTube for videos on the tips to maintain grape vines and watched them carefully. He took care of the plants as instructed in the videos. Following this, the vines bloomed within three months and gave a good yield.
Many people keep coming to Biju's house to see the grape vine and take pictures of it. He said that some people even showed interest to try grape cultivation at their houses. After successfully growing grapes, Biju is now going to plant an apple tree in his garden.
