Thrissur: Kerala Veterinary University has initiated a pet grooming and spa centre near Mannuthy veterinary hospital. The ‘Silky Pet Grooming and Spa Centre’ intends to encourage entrepreneurs and to increase efficiency of pet animal care. Assembly Chief Whip K. Rajan will inaugurate the facility at Mannuthy on Saturday.
Health care, grooming, cutting fur, one-hour long bathing and similar services are available at the centre. The activities here will be supervised by two employees who holds lab technician diploma from the veterinary university.
The pet grooming and spa centre is the first phase project of Technology Business Incubation Centre aiming at entrepreneurship development. The prize money of Chancellor’s Award conferred on the University last year will be utilised for the centre.
Eighty percent of the income from the spa centre will be given to entrepreneurs and 20 percent to the university. Though there are many spa centres for pet animals outside Kerala, such firms exist only in Ernakulam within the state.
