Dubai: Cheruvayal Raman, widely known as the protector of traditional paddy seeds, has been admitted at a hospital in Dubai after he suffered a heart attack. He has gone to Dubai to participate in ‘Vayalum Veedum’, an event to promote organic farming.
Raman protects and promote the extinct traditional paddy seeds in Kerala.
On reaching the event venue on Thursday night, he suffered chest pain and was taken to the Dubai Rashid hospital. Raman underwent angioplasty and is under medication for blood clot.
He has not overcome the dangerous condition, said the organisers of the event. Since he is alone, an attempt to bring his son to Dubai did not materialise as he does not have a passport.
The unexpected treatment and its expenses has put the organizers in chaos. However, minister for agriculture VS Sunilkumar has promised help through Dubai consulate.
