School kids turn discarded milk packets into grow bags for sowing seeds
Cherai (Ernakulam): A group of school students set a model for the society by planting seeds in grow bags made of discarded milk packets. Their parents were wonderstruck when the little ones requested them to sow the seeds in the milk packets filled with soil.
The parents arrived at the school in order take part in the PTA annual general body meeting. The creative idea was implemented as part of the ‘Ente Maram’ programme of the student police cadets in SDPY KPM School at Edavanakkad.
The student police cadets had collected milk packets and seeds from the classes on the previous day. The larger covers were turned into smaller ones using sealing machine. This helped to spread the message of reusing. Parents, PTA office-bearers and management also took part in the mission.
A training was held at the school a week before under the leadership of environmentalist I. B. Manoj. The packets will be kept at the school until the seeds sprout. After this, the saplings will be handed over to interested students.
